Welcome to Rogue Rabbit Miniatures. This website is a personal project for me to display and talk about my rediscovery of the miniature painting hobby. Have a look around and if you have feedback whether good or bad please let me know.

One of the ways I feed my addiction is to watch YouTube videos, these provide me with hours of entertainment but I have noticed a distinct trend in that many of the channels are either painters with seemingly superhuman skill or painters that claim to be ‘not very good’ who secretly have superhuman skill. I’d love to see some content from people that are genuinely learning and show their mistakes and evolution. I guess it’s the nature of the media that the videos that do well are people showing off amazing paintjobs or teaching new techniques that are made to look effortless. I love this content, long may it continue. In my search to find people creating content at what I perceive to be my own skill level I ended up on Reddit and there looks to be lots on there, but I really don’t understand the site (which makes me sound geriatric even though at the time of writing I am a mere 37.) So here I am attempting to build my own website to showcase my miniatures, fully aware that it’s unlikely many or any people will stumble across my small corner of the interweb.

The first miniature I painted as an adult

I consider myself a novice painter having only really being going since mid 2023 (not counting the couple of years as a child) and I’m learning as I go. I’m not sure where I sit in terms of skill but please don’t expect professional quality builds or painting. I’ve found as an adult I’m much better than i was as a child, likely down to the fact that I now have patience. Painting has very much become like meditation for me. it allows me to block out the real world and truly relax. In real life I work in the mental health sector, so having a way of unwinding like this is essential.

Warhammer 40,000

My main plastic addiction, like many, is fed by Warhammer 40k. With it being the largest table top game, that’s hard to avoid, but its also the first table top game I got into in the mid 90’s. I hold a huge amount of nostalgia towards the game and love to find, paint and kit bash the models.

Space Marines

Space Marines are my first choice of army in 40k, when I began as child i collected and painted Space Wolves. Unfortunately none of this army survives and I’m not sure I even have any photos from that time. These days I’ve made my own chapter and I’m currently writing thier backstory and lore on 40k homebrew wiki.

Tyranids

My Second army of choice is the great devourer. I’ve really enjoyed painting up my first couple of models and developed my paint scheme on the Psychophage. As the colours are a similar palette to Hive Fleet Leviathan I have made them as a splinter fleet to Leviathan named Splinter Fleet Nuckelavee.

Age of Sigmar

I’ve not really dabbled in any game systems other than 40k but have been looking at Age of Sigmar and I plan on starting a Soulblight army in the near future.

*I’ll add a photo once I start.

Non GW Models

Having never strayed to far from the Nurgle like embrace of GW I’m interested to explore models from other game systems. These days there’s an abundance of different game systems with some really interesting looking miniatures linked to them. It must be extremely hard for these systems to gain traction with how much of a market share GW hold, so I’d like to give a little love to some of the less well known ones as well as just broadening my own horizons. Not sure where I’ll start and I have no plan, I’ll just see where the wind takes me.
